Poem of the Month 3/14

              Because It Is Now
I know that time is out there,
Time is in here, it is all around me.
This is why I ate all the macadamias,
I know it is a bit extravagant;
I understand that it may not be wise,
Yet this night, time was pressing in on me.
I love macadamias; I love wine, ruby red dry wine;

Wine full of tannins and fruit, so I drank.
Not too much, but enough to feel that the vine was planted for
me...
I remembered the past, the distant,
the not so distant, it brought mostly joy...
There was however, a certain melancholy flying through the room...
I could not taste it in the macadamias;
the wine was not spoiled by it,
still as if an insect, a tiny gnat like flyer,
this melancholy was present,
I saw and heard it in the dark...
Was it time? Time again pressing me?
I don't believe it was; it was my heart;
this heart of mine is insecure,
It never really knows when it is whole...
It wants to waver, to go off kilter;
it has made kilter a word...
Why can't it just stay the course?
There is a true goal, a north.
Magnets seem to be the tool,
Where are you my magnet?
I look to you, I scan and twist...
Yet I go off course, I veer off;
Tonight I had the macadamias,
I drank the red red wine,
Pull me magnet, pull me....
