The Wood Splitter
I split the log and smelled the farm,
Suddenly the young boy emerged,
I saw him arisen before the sun...
He went into the barn to check the horses;
It was to the cows next, the tin pans filled,
As he stood up he stretched, then back to the horses.
He jumped on the chestnut one, so handsome...
As he rode out of the barn the sun broke the horizon,
He rode right into the orange brilliance,
To the south of his trot was the very maple I just split...
