                                       Twenty First Century Man

The news wire was grim, bizarre,

“Family chimpanzee attacks woman, she is near death in brutal scene”,

All who hear are shocked, how could this happen? Did I hear this right?

Pet chimp? Everyone hopes the woman will survive and recover…

The same week brings news of an eleven year old boy,

He shot and killed his step mother; she was eight months pregnant…

Eleven years old? He had a shotgun…

More news: A student is attacked in his high school, he is nearly killed,

This happens while class is in session…

Spouses are beaten each day in their own homes, by whom? Their spouses.

Innocent children are abused in all manner of harm, by whom? Their parents and guardians.

What happens to their innocence? It is lost…

Drugs are being manufactured and sold right in our neighborhoods…

Gang violence and street crimes continue to ravage…

Rape and murder continue to occur every day throughout the nation…

Should not the headline of the chimp attack have read:

“FAMILY PET CHIMP TURNS VIOLENT, ATTACKS INNOCENT WOMAN, ACTS LIKE MAN”?
