Time is a Betrayer
Time is a betrayer, time deals in treachery;
The truer the love, the more tragic its end.
Inevitable loneliness begins its slow deliberate march upon the first touch,
The tingle on one’s neck, the flutter in one's chest, the sweet uneasiness in one's stomach,
Are only signs, signs of the impending, depleting, bitter parting.
The forced goodbye of your true love can there be a sorrow to match it?
Time marches on, time stakes its claim.
Time together how treasured, time together is measured.
Time is a betrayer.
The truer the love, the more tragic its end.
