Live Oaks
So sometimes you miss the obvious,
I was parked out in the middle of the sun
it was getting pretty hot in that sun…
then I looked across the street, I saw two live oaks;
underneath those beautiful trees was a welcoming shade.
So I put the car in drive and parked under them.
As I looked up at these lovely trees I saw the hanging Spanish moss;
Someone warned me once about this moss:
“Be careful, there are little red bugs in that moss, they bite!”
I didn’t see any red bugs; I just felt the cool shade…
I was admiring the stately lines of these southern trees.
I realized that for centuries folks in this country have been
enjoying the shade, the lines and the moss of these oaks.
I’m sure they knew about the “little red bugs”.
I began to think; sometimes life has “little red bugs” that bite,
I thought that even though the moss may come with warnings,
I didn’t have to look at these trees with that in mind.
I am going to try each day to look at life that way...
I will look at all the positive, and good things,
that life and live oaks can bring…
