Rubber Soul Summer
H. H. Scott said the face of the gold and brown amplifier,
I stared at the dials all summer…
The day would start there , inevitably would end there…
Right in front of the tube filled Scott with “Rubber Soul” filling the house.
It was my Rubber Soul summer…
The melodies had a way of massaging my eight year old brain,
I could never really explain… those songs were a part of me,
The harmonies were suddenly integral to my existence,
When I went outside they went with me…
To Mary Manucian’s penny candy store…
When I watched the “Dover Street Bomber’s” play in the park…
“Up Against” at the school’s brick wall…
Riding my new “banana seat” bike…
Playing “jail break” with my cousins and brothers…
We would play into the night…
So would the songs…
“There are places I remember”…
One very special place was in the summer, on Clinton Avenue,
Right in front of the H. H. Scott amplifier…

2-28-09 to listen to “In my life” while reading is suggested. The ‘Rubber Soul’ album was the softer acoustic American release.
