Over the years we all get use to products that we trust. We come to expect certain reliable qualities from these products. However, in this fast paced and competitive world we need to be cautious about "what's in a name".
Recently on a remodeling job we were installing a bathtub .
The drain assembly ( which was an old reliable "name" product ) seemed very flimsy. When installed the metal was so thin that it would not tighten enough before it would pop out of place, thus causing a leak! As you may realize , this is not what you want on any job, especially on a second floor of a million dollar luxury condo unit! Thankfully we had a replacement part on the truck to remedy this.
What did we learn? This old reliable product had recently been sold to a far eastern company, apparently they have decided to cut corners , thus rendering a once reliable "name" to a "must to avoid" (btw a great Herman's Hermit's song). So " buyer beware" is a reliable cliche. Recently a new company began making "Twinkie's"again, not to worry, nothing can ruin a Twinkie!
