So, one would hope that MLB would have a sense of responsibility to try and bring the great old pastime back to a beleaguered populous of folks who have fallen on hard times and great losses. It is hard for people to view the game of baseball as big business, yet big business is what it is. Folks just want to hear the crack of the bat and pass the time watching their childhood teams perform in the warm summer air. It has become the fabric of their lives, although it is understandable that there is risk involved you would hope that mitigation and plain spunk may be enough to get the games started. At all cost it better not be money that causes the season to be cancelled. If millionaires fighting billionaires over how much each can clear from a fractured season cancels the season, it will cause both parties to regret the lost chance to be a kind of healing in the midst of a sorrow filled time of pandemic. It is in fact big business, yet the child in their fanbase usually puts that behind them when the game is on. If money causes the game to go dark and adds to the darkness already here, big business will remain in the forefront of the minds of the fans. It is a crime to take away the innocence of a child, no matter how old they are. It is plain to see there is more at risk than an abbreviated season, it could cost the game much more than money.
