4/21 A Year OF Plumbing In A Pandemic

It has been over a year doing plumbing in this pandemic. Happily, I never caught the terrible virus. It has however caught all of us. What I mean is this: none of us were ready for this thing. We just took for granted our daily freedoms to come and go. To entertain friends and family. To entertain ourselves at our favorite venues, be it baseball, symphony , jazz club and on and on. I saw a show that I actually tolerate on TV several years back use a terrorist attack in the city as the premise for the latest episode: the terrorists were going to let a deadly virus loose in the largest city in the world, the result? A Pandemic… They say the truth is stranger than fiction. Here it seems that fiction came true, in a sense. No, I am not saying it was terror, I am also not saying it was not. We just do not know.

What I do know is we have all changed due to it. As an example: I had to work in a multi- family home in the basement. A tenant heard me and did not greet me with any salutation she just sternly said: “what are you doing, do you have a mask?” She then stated that she should not be subject to having people in her space. I was actually feeling like THE VIRUS at that moment. I was only there to help the residents with a vital plumbing issue as I have done for 40 years. I do understand her concern, as I have said we have all changed.

Hopefully, we can take positive lessons from all of this. We can cherish friends and family all the more as we think of the absence we suffered. Also, maybe we can look deeper into the meaning of life and where man is heading, the answers are there…*

                          Thanks, JJ
