Unlicensed plumbers are dangerous. Is that a bit extreme? Not at all; think of how many things in your home are handled by plumbers and heating men. The gas lines, heating and hot water equipment in themselves can cause major damage and death if not installed properly. I recently had a tire repaired and the man servicing it said he does all the aspects of plumbing and heating including gas lines. He said he does furnaces but not boilers- boilers scared him! Well he scared me- I have seen many many terrible and dangerous attempts at plumbing installations, from soldered gas lines, to venting an entire sewer system into a kitchen sink. The list goes on from there, carbon monoxide poisoning, fire hazards etc.
What’s the point? Make sure you have a reputable person who is properly trained and licensed to work on your home or business. American Standard has a poster that reads “The Plumber Protects The Health Of The Nation”. That is not overstating the facts pertaining to a vital part of our lives...
Thanks,JJ
