Every two years we plumbers are required by state law to attend "Continuing Education" classes. (I will not use this forum to voice my opinion on this fact, nobody likes a whiner.) At our last class the subject came up: Will there be enough plumbers to carry on the trade when we older folks hang up the wrenches?The surprising answer at this point is no! It seems that the trades are not as often sought as they once were. You can probably pin that on the electronic surge of the new century. Computers, cell phones, gadgetry in general has turned many young ones away from good ole' fashioned hard work. I will opine that there is a good living to be had in my trade as well as the other major trades. You may recall the September 2010 newsletter spoke of the need to be licensed to practice the plumbing trade. If young ones choose a good trade school they could be on their way to a fine and virtuous career, one that is always in demand, now more than ever. Please treasure our young ones and guide them well.
